How to Stop Amazon Emails (2026)

Stop Amazon marketing emails with the Communication Preferences Center, manage Amazon email subscriptions, and handle order emails you can't switch off.

Amazon splits its email into three buckets, and each is controlled differently:

Marketing emails (deals, recommendations, "inspired by your browsing"): controlled in the Communication Preferences Center.
Subscription emails (newsletters, programs you're enrolled in, alerts): controlled in Your Email Subscriptions.
Transactional emails (order confirmations, shipping, delivery): part of using Amazon, so there's no off switch.

How to stop Amazon marketing emails

From Amazon's help page "Unsubscribe from Amazon Marketing":

Go to the Communication Preferences Center (Your Account → Communication preferences).
In the Promotional Emails section, select Do not send me any marketing email for now.
Select Update.
Optional: in Marketing Information by Post, select Do not send me marketing information by mail, then Update to stop physical mailers too.

If you'd rather keep some categories (say, Kindle deals), untick the departments you don't want instead of opting out of everything.

How to stop Amazon subscription emails

Amazon's help says other email subscriptions, such as newsletters and emails about programs you're enrolled in, are managed in Your Email Subscriptions. Open it from Your Account and unsubscribe from each one you don't want. Prime and Subscribe & Save emails have their own settings pages, linked from Amazon's "Change Your Subscription Email Preferences" help page.

Amazon notes it may take 1–5 business days for new subscription preferences to take effect.

What about order and shipping emails?

Order confirmations, shipping updates, and delivery notices are transactional, so you can't unsubscribe from them in Amazon's settings. If they clutter your inbox, the practical answer is a filter or rule in your email app that labels or archives them automatically, so you still have them when you need to find an order.

Block or filter Amazon emails in Gmail or Outlook

If some Amazon emails still get through, filter them in your email app so they skip your inbox:

Gmail: open an Amazon email, click the three dots (More) at the top, and choose Filter messages like these. Click Create filter, then pick Skip the Inbox (Archive it) or Delete it.
Outlook: right-click an Amazon email and choose Rules → Create rule to move messages from that sender to a folder. Or choose Block sender if you never want to see them. Blocking sends future messages to Junk.

A filter is better than blocking if some of the emails (receipts, security alerts) are ones you may need later.
