How to Stop Twitter (X) Emails (2026)

Stop X (Twitter) emails: turn off email notifications in Settings and privacy, pick which X emails to keep, and unsubscribe from one email type.

X (formerly Twitter) emails you about activity on your posts, "top posts you missed," new followers, and product updates. All of it is controlled from the Email notifications settings.

How to stop X (Twitter) emails

On the web or in the app:

Open Settings and privacy (from the More menu on the web, or your profile menu in the app).
Select Notifications.
Select Preferences, then Email notifications.
Turn off the main Email notifications toggle to stop them all, or leave it on and untick the specific types you don't want (for example activity on your posts, top posts and stories, or updates about X).

Unsubscribe from one email type

X emails include an unsubscribe link at the bottom. Use it when one specific email type is the problem.

Security emails (login alerts, password resets, verification codes) are sent regardless of your notification settings.

Old accounts

If you had more than one account, each one has its own email settings. Log in to each, or deactivate accounts you no longer use.

Block or filter X (Twitter) emails in Gmail or Outlook

If some X (Twitter) emails still get through, filter them in your email app so they skip your inbox:

Gmail: open an X (Twitter) email, click the three dots (More) at the top, and choose Filter messages like these. Click Create filter, then pick Skip the Inbox (Archive it) or Delete it.
Outlook: right-click an X (Twitter) email and choose Rules → Create rule to move messages from that sender to a folder. Or choose Block sender if you never want to see them. Blocking sends future messages to Junk.

A filter is better than blocking if some of the emails (receipts, security alerts) are ones you may need later.
